The celebration of literature and art is soon coming up, as the city of Hamilton will be holding its Hamilton Book Month 2026, a full month programme comprising of 18 literary activities, ranging from writing workshops, author conversations, panels and other literary activities suitable for both readers and budding writers.
Programme Variety Suitable for Both Readers and Writers
The programmes in the present year include creative writing workshops in genres like fiction, memoirs, poetry and kids' books. Along with that, there will be author talks, book clubs and more. Most of the activities have been arranged in such a manner that they are either free or inexpensive.
Celebrating Both Local and National Literary Talent
The Hamilton Book Month will see the coming together of renowned New Zealand literary figures, artists and book people, as well as local Waikato literary talent. Participants will have a chance to interact directly with literary figures, get insights into the process of publishing, and discuss storytelling and the art of writing.

According to organisers, this literary festival seeks to develop Hamilton’s literary community by bringing together the readers, writers, and publishers through their shared experiences.
